Happy Father’s Day!

My dad loves to stay busy around the house. That’s why some of my fondest memories with him are long conversations while I passed him this tool or that, or simply sat and watched him in action. I remember thinking that he could fix anything. He was my superhero back then and he still is! So in honor of Father’s Day, here are some special memories of dad from the Home Depot team:

Mark Mccallum

“When I was 8 years old, my favorite toy lay in ruins at the foot of the basement stairs, hurled there amid the tearful despair that those wooden pieces no longer served as a medieval sword capable of slaying fire-breathing dragons. I stared through my tears at its transformation back into kindling. But the next morning, I opened the basement door. There rested my sword. Right where I threw it, but amazingly returned to its former glory.  My heart soared. Damsels rejoiced. It’s been over 40 years since that day and even after learning Dad fixed the makeshift weapon, I’ve never lost my belief in miracles.”

Ayana Glaze

“I remember singing along with Dad as he played his guitar.”

Jerald Warren

“My dad and I were each very competitive.  He taught me to fish and hunt – and I very much enjoyed it when I was finally old enough to best him at both.  Happy Father’s Day Old Man!”

Tenisha Mercer

“I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather raised me after my grandmother became ill when I was 15. He was a southern man, and he wasn’t big into sitting down and talking a lot. But I learned the most from him based on what he did: He was a hard worker who only had a 3rd grade education (which was probably like 1st grade since he was raised in the segregated south) but he had a nearly 40-year successful career as a factory job supervisor at Chrysler (he was the 2nd in command on the factory line). And he was a successful real estate investor with two rental houses. I learned my work ethic from him. And I learned that you have to be determined and take risks at times.”

Lia Janusis

“Like most daughters, I’ve always been “Daddy’s Little Girl”. Even now as an adult, I often find myself asking my dad for his opinion on everything from car repairs to major life decisions.

It’s amazing how generous and understanding my father has been through the years…I’m grateful to have such a solid role model to look up to and am that much more appreciative of him as the years go on…”

Micah Robinson

“I’m lucky to still have my father. He’s been a partner and guiding force in my life for as long as I can remember, and he was always hands-on and getting me to help with household repairs, new projects, and whatever needed doing.”
